If you are wanting to build a sales funnel then you are on the right track. The hardest parts of building a sales funnels is making sure you have the beginning elements all correct. That is why so many people build sales funnels that are just not converting. 

Here is the process we use and recommend in order to make sure you sales funnels all have the best chances at being a homerun hit!

1. Start With The End In Mind. 

This means that you should start with the goals you have for your customers in your mind. You want each of your customers to become product aware. That product being the final step in your sales funnel. 

So… You want all of your customers to ascend or descend through your sales funnel. 

Having the end in mind is where you build a logical and emotional process for your ideal targeted client to appear. You want them to instantly feel as if you are kindred spirits as they go through your sales pages. This is why you want to focus on your customers and the marketplace through the entire process.

2. Do The Research Needed – Funnel Hacking

Research is a boring extensive process. I realize that…

That is great news for you… and me. 

We don’t have to be better at building sales funnels than everyone else. We don’t even have to be one of the top ten. 

Why?

Because if we do the research the right way then we will win by default. 

Most funnel marketers never do any research. 

They normally find a concept that they think will sell. They slap together some templates and then run a facebook ad at the front of the funnel. It either works or they abandon the process and go to another subject. 

This is great news like I said. It means they are steady wasting money and abandoning ideas while you are learning how to insure that your product sells and your sales funnel converts. 

The research is specifically on the market you are approaching. You want to know what else is in the market besides your product. You want to know where you users are at online. Where are they reading articles? Where are they sharing their stories? 

You want to find your ideal customer and learn to speak to them. 

You will also spend a lot of time looking for opportunities to speak to your audience through partnerships, guest post, and collaborations. These are all best to have been identified and recorded before you launched the funnel. That way you have multiple opportunities to get in front of your customer. 

3. Design Your Users Funnel Not Your Sales Funnel

This means that you want to use the market research to find what your ideal user is used to seeing. If they like big yellow background websites then why would you make a plan white website? It would make sense to mimic or model the major factors in order to insure success. 

Your users are measuring you and your sales funnel against one thing….

That one thing is the amount of credibility and trust that you have conveyed.

You need to prove that you are worthy of their email address. Then their wallet. It is easy to see others success and wonder why you are not able to capture sells onlnie. Most of the time it is because your trust, credibility, or website is causing your audience to not agree with you. 

4. Email Captures and Value Ladders For Your Sales Funnels

You want to start your sales funnel with something that stands out. 

Some of the best top of funnel items are physical items. They have a higher perceived value. So writing a book that you physically ship your customers is a great way to gain customers. Especially if you have a good book!

If you don’t have anything physical to ship your customer then look for content upgrades. These are items like excel spreadsheets and extra information that you can have someone add their email in order to download the item. You make a link in your blog post letting everyone know that if they want the excel sheet they can enter their email and you will send it to them. That excel spreadsheet can have extra “behind the scenes” information or just simply a list of contacts. 

Your number one goal at the Top of the Funnel is to:

1. Create a Profitable Beginning To Your Sales Funnel – This means that you are measuring the cost for driving traffic to the TOFU (Top of the Sales Funnel) in order to have more sales in the MOFU (Middle of Funnel) and BOFU (Back of Funnel). 

2. Capture Their Email Address – You want to be able to establish an email marketing funnel with every customer that comes through your sales funnel. An effective email marketing strategy is key to a strong sales funnel converting. 

The TOFU to the MOFU… 

You want your offers to ascend through the funnel. The price and value should go up. This is the value ladder. You want to offer a minimal value offer in order to capture your prospects email. From there you start offering more valuable and more expensive items. You drive that entire process with marketing automation and sales funnels using emails.
